Question 1

Do I need a firearm licence to buy a 4.5mm (.177) or 5.5mm (.22) PCP air rifle in South Africa?

No — under the South African Firearms Control Act (Act 60 of 2000), all 4.5mm (.177), 5.0mm (.20), and 5.5mm (.22) air rifles are exempt from firearm licensing regardless of muzzle energy.
